DELHI - CEO of Sport Knowledge Australia (SKA), Leighton Wood, visits Delhi this week with the Australian Trade Commission.

Leighton Wood, former chief executive of the Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games bidding committee, is visiting Delhi this week to speak at the Australia India Council's Forum on Sports Management and Games Management.

Wood recently brokered SKA’s first executive level sport education product into India in a joint initiative with the prestigious Indian School of Business (ISB) in Hyderabad. The ISB boasts alliances with the USA’s world-renowned Kellogg School of Management, The Wharton School of Business and London Business School.

During his visit, Wood will also speak at a Games Business Workshop, an initiative of the Australia-India Council and the Confederation of Indian Industry sponsored by the Governments of New South Wales and Victoria. Workshop host, former Sydney Olympics CEO, Sandy Hollway has coordinated themed presentations to officials and companies by leading-edge Australian companies and specialists.

“Through its involvement with the Indian School of Business, SKA can offer organisations the chance to develop world-class leaders and equip them with the latest knowledge so that they are capable of paralleling India’s dynamic economic growth.”

Wood said India, particularly Delhi, is in an ideal position to ensure maximum social and financial value from its upcoming role as host of the 2010 Commonwealth Games, “India is a country already rich in sporting culture and traditions and the prospect of hosting a major event like the Commonwealth Games will strengthen that culture and help grow India’s sport industry.”
