Mr Bob Elphinston

Throughout his career Bob Elphinston has successfully assumed the posts of General Manager of Sport, Secretary-General of Australian Olympic Committee, Sports Consultant of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), and President of the International Basketball Federation (FIBA). He has also recently been appointed as the sports consultant of the Beijing Organising Committee of the 2008 Olympic Games. Bob Elphinston has also taken part in four Summer Olympic Games (Los Angeles, 1984; Barcelona, 1992; Atlanta, 1996; and Sydney, 2000), as well as three Winter Olympic Games (Lillehammer, 1994; Nagano, 1998; and Salt Lake City, 2002). 


Associate Professor Bruce Hayllar

Bruce is Head of the School of Leisure, Sport & Tourism at the University of Technology, Sydney. Bruce joined UTS from the New South Wales Department of Sport and Recreation in 1992. He has conducted an extensive range of applied research projects for both the public and private sector on land-use management and recreation planning. He is the Vice-President of the Outdoor Recreation Industry Council and immediate past chair of the Outdoor Recreation Sector Standing Committee of the Sport and Recreation Industry Training Advisory Body. His teaching areas are the social psychology of leisure; outdoor education and research methods. His research areas are management performance indicators for sports and leisure centres and outdoor experiential learning.


 

Professor Tony Parker

As the Head of the School of Human Movement Studies at Queensland University of Technology, Professor Parker’s teaching areas are Functional Anatomy and Human Growth & Development. He has released numerous publications and is affiliated with several organizations in the sporting industry. He is the Vice-President of the Australian Association for Exercise and Sport Science as well as the International Council for Sports Science and Physical Education. Professor Parker was the Chair of the 2000 Pre-Olympic Scientific Congress, and continues to contribute to Australia’s scientific sporting development.


Professor Terry Roberts

Professor Terry Roberts is the Head of the School of Human Movement, Recreation and Performance, in the Faculty of Human Development at Victoria University. His expertise lies in Philosophy and Ethics of Sport and his special interests include: sport and language; sport and cheating/drugs; aesthetics and art; sport and symbol systems and languages of sport.


Professor David Shilbury

Professor Shilbury is the Head of Bowater School of Management and Marketing at Deakin University. He is the Foundation Chair of Sport Management at Deakin University as well as the Foundation President of the Sport Management Association of Australia and New Zealand, a former Member of the Australian Football League Tribunal and Board Member of the Confederation of Australian Sport. He is also the winner of numerous teaching awards.


Professor Kristine Toohey

Professor Toohey is the Deputy Head of the Department of Tourism, Leisure, Hotel and Sport Management at Griffith University. She has a wealth of academic knowledge and operational experience in the field of sports management, sport studies and knowledge management. She has acted as a consultant to various organisations such as: the Olympic Coordination Authority; the Australian Sports Commission; the Australian Jockey Club; Womensport Australia; Netball Australia and the International Olympic Committee. Kristine has won a number of teaching excellence awards and published several journal articles and books, mostly relating to the Olympic Games and sporting themes.
