Leighton Wood

Leighton Wood is enjoying a distinguished career in executive sport administration. Leighton was the Chief Executive of the Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games Organising Committee and the Melbourne Major Events Company. He has a Master of Business Administration from Bond University and is a graduate of the Advanced Management Program at Harvard University.

Dr Paul Jonson
BA (Hons), LLB, GDLS, PhD
Academic Programme Director

Dr Jonson is a lawyer specializing in sport law. His publications and research interests include compensation for breaches of contract for sport services, risk management, sport judiciaries and constitutions (of which he has written several). He is also the author of the Sao Paolo Declaration on Leisure and Globalisation for which he subsequently received a UNESCO Participation Grant. He is the current Chair of the Law and Policy Commission of the World Leisure Organisation. As an educator, Dr Jonson has received the Australian University Teaching Excellence Award (1998) and the UTS Excellence in Teaching Award (1993).

Professor Kevin Norton

Kevin is a PhD graduate of the University of Georgia in exercise physiology. He has held academic positions at the University of Newcastle, University of New South Wales and as Head of the School of Physical Education, Exercise and Sport Studies at the University of South Australia. Currently he is a Professor in the School of Health Sciences at the University of South Australia. He is on secondment to Sport Knowledge Australia as the Director of Research and Knowledge Services. He has published over 50 journal articles, 15 books and chapters, 6 commercial software programs and more than 100 conference presentations and papers. He has been a recipient of 8 presentation awards at national and international conferences.

His current research focuses on intervention strategies for increasing physical activity patterns in children and adults, exercise prescription for health and fitness, the evolution of sports and athletes - and the causes and consequences of these changes.
